Hey, Jay, how about turning off the HTML? On non-HTML mail programs,
your posts are basically unreadable; even on HTML-capable mail programs,
your choice of font, size, and other formatting choices make your posts
quite difficult to read. I've almost stopped bothering. (Carriage
returns every now and then do wonders for readability.)

HTML doesn't belong anywhere on the net other than the WWW.

And on a more interesting note, I received my going-away note from the
Conspiracy today, and while saddened, I would like to thank Atlas for
their generous offer, and for the support they have given to OnTE (not
to mention the *other* OTE!). ;)

If anyone from Atlas is reading this, is there any way for fans of OTE
to get ahold of press sheets for the basic game or any of the
expansions? (Like, say, gobs of cash?)

Chris

Ok, how's this for a supplement outline:

History(s) 101: The 6 2/19 real story(s) of Al Amarja

This supplement contains 5-7 sections of 5-12 pages each. Each section =
contains a piece of writing on some aspect of Al Amarja's history, written =
in the style of a real-life document, whether this be lecture notes, a =
diary, a volume on 20th and 21st century world history from 2253 AD, etc. =
Each piece of historical narrative will be accompanied by up to a page of =
potential adventures/story arcs using the narrative as a starting point. =
A key element of this supplement is that all of the histories would be =
written independently, with no attempt to ensure continuity between them. =
The authors would be encouraged to take whatever liberties they desired =
with established storylines in order to provide as broad a set of campaign =
visions as possible to the reader.

I figured a target size of 64 pages would make sense. Anything else that =
would need to be added? I think that a similar supplement focusing on =
alternative write-ups of some of the more established organizations (maybe =
3 versions each of 3 groups) could follow the same structure. Essentially =
this is shooting for the roleplaying equivalent of the multiple versions =
of Monique in the card game.

Ummmm...

HTML in my posts wtf? Honestly, I agree with you and dislike html in posts. The thing is, I'm using Eudora and I am NOT using any text styling at all that I know of. A few people have mentioned in the past that my messages look screwed up - but I can't figure out how to fix it. I've been using Eudora for a while now, but I guess something could be setup wrong. Any Eudora gurus out there who can tell me what options to set/deselect so that this won't happen? I am NOT wanting to post html in my messages - I didn't even know I was.

Pick your own History! Garanteed made to fit! I love it.

Yup. The different cultural groupings (Al Amarjan Natives, Libyans,
Italians, Egypts, Greeks, French, Basques, Irish, whatever) would have
different outlooks depending on their history and depending on how much
they know of the 'true', the 'one-and-only' and the 'real' history.
Imagine a history where a radical nationalist from any of these
countries gained power and raised hell until Loyalist troops made her go
to said place. Or someone from the upper class of Her Exaltedness'
Circles would favour members of a specific cultural group.
I think the interaction between different peoples is far too
underdeveloped in OTE. Mind you, I don't mean racism. I work for the EU
and have the opportunity to watch the quirks of different cultures on a
daily basis. Great fun. What I mean is, where are the big festivals, the
Jewish marriages, the picknicks on the 4th of July, the St.Patrick's
Day?
After all, Al Amarja sits squarley in the middle of a several dozen
cultures...

Aloha.

Flo

I like this a lot. This would be similar to the theme adventure books The
Myth of Self and Forgotten lives except there would be more of an emphasis
on the source material.

>This supplement contains 5-7 sections of 5-12 pages each. Each section

I wouldn't be too strict on length. If there is a really good 15 or 20
page source, that would be fine with me.

Well, I would prefer a similar book on the culture of the edge. Similarly,
you could have different account from different people. The transcript of
a conversation with a businessman in Golden; what you learn when you read
the mind of a bum in Great men; an anthropology paper; a government report
on the average life of a student... Again, you could have a page of
adventure ideas at the end (or in side bars/inset boxes).

Even if you combined the two books (history and culture) into one, I think
this would be a good idea. Now everyone just has to send Atlas Games
several brilliant proposals on fabricated primary sources and we can make
this really happen.

What if, for one day, The Throckmorton device, and the Cut Ups machine
decided to change places? The cutups suddnely becoming jackbooted
minions of control, whereas the Throckmortons, and possibly for a bit of
added fun, the other minions of control, say the LeThuys, Movers, and
MEBBIE the Pharos suddenly become the champions of creative disorder.
Society flip flops, suddenly begining a general trend twards
openmindedness worldwide, Fire and Brimstone preachers speaking for gay
rights, the president of the USa getting a nosering..

Everyone seems to act as this isn't anything unusual...except for the
PC's... Imagine how they'd react to a general flipflop, especially if
they had conections to either group<G>
