If I may mention something... the working together aspect won't work if
the Idea knows what the Tulpa is -- it would cause the Tulpa to start
shedding traits.

However....

This is nice... and with the above, the power struggle is not only a
matter of posession, but also immediate escape, to avoid losing traits --
or maybe, just long enough to lose the Idea-form traits, but before it
completely disintegrates. And, of course, PC help will be difficult for
the usual reason with Tulpas.

Or perhaps it shifts forms as the two entities vie for control? An
interesting development for the Idea's "friends."

I guess I could see the players thinking that. After the game there were a
lot of "Oh my f---ing god," "What the Hell?" etc., but when I e-mailed them
they said that it was disorienting and frieghtening, but they liked it. That
could just be my masochistic friends.

A possible solution is explored in my article in Pyramid, "The CPC Files."
Basically, run a series around the idea that your PCs are "in the know"
(although of course still subject to plenty of disinformation), working for
the government to track down bizarre things in the protection of Her
Exaltedness's regime.
