Well hey, I'll help write the script. I can do pretty good
dialog, as long as I'm not trying to come up with it in spare
moments at work, which is what I did with the short on Mr.
Toaster. Someone give me some basic plot idea's and I'll start
workin' on them at home.

Question:

What is the duration of a changed trait?

Specifically, if Anatoly Taghel converts somebody, is that character always
a Giovanni's Cabbie?
Does The Theory Behind Psychic Powers make a character permanently Psychic?
Is Tomek Bereszowsky an Animal rather than a Mutant until he uncranks? (And
is he +4 DP the whole time?)
Does The Truth About Control Addiction wear off?

Granted, these are only a few examples, and some are quite explicit.
A character targeted by a character with Atavism: Priest of Thoth is Astral
for only one round, as is a character made Immune: Psychic by the
aforementioned Theory.

I have checked the Hymnal, and on page 37, heading EFFECTS & ABILITIES,
sub-heading: Effect Duration.

It says: "Effects from characters are generally one-turn ... "

We have been playing Anatoly's effect as a permanent one, and Tomek's as a
one-turn, much like Barber Hammock's. (damn mutants ... )

How do others play these effects?
Are there any official rulings?

Comments/feedback welcome and requested.

Pete Jansen

In general, until the end of the turn.

I believe that in each case (except Anatoly), it's until the end of the turn.
Anatoly is permanent because he says so, and that's why you use a marker.

Correct.

I'd say that's right.

I think most of the changing traits you have mentioned you play
correctly, but I have always played that Tomek's change was permanent, as
was Anatoly Taghels. It has a while since I have thought about this so I
may be wrong. I'll have to go and look over my cards again just to be sure.

Subject: [The Edge] First Turns from Hell (OnTE)

I just got a new computer, and was cleaning out some old files when I came
across a document Paul Nurnberger put together during his tenure at Atlas
Games. It's "First Turns from Hell" and outlines the worst a given conspiracy
can do in a single turn. The notation for Influence on each conbination lists
(I believe) first turn Influence/Influence per turn thereafter. The Gladstein
and Hermetic ones are particularly vile.

Without further ado, for your amusement and edification....
