Oops. I hit "send."

So. Here's a character concept, and if you have room for him in the game,
I'll ask your help in tailoring him to the system.

P.J. MacElroy
Pretentous Writer
(Human, Burger)

MacElroy writes after the style of Michael Crichton. Plenty of suspense and
action, founded on a solid base of research. He likes to affect the style of
the grizzled veteran (having read too much Hemingway in high school,) but in
fact his only "combat" experience is a mugging that still gives him bad
dreams.

He initially selected Al Amarja as the site of his next novel on a whim. He
actually put a pin in a map -- he thinks at random, but it's possible fate
guided his hand. Soon thereafter, while talking about himself at a literary
cocktail party, he learned from an academic friend about a recent
paleontological find on that very island... a group of Australopithecus
marked with a skull-ridge. He is intrigued, and would like to work the find
into his novel.

MacElroy has one peculiar secret. He was raised by a bookish maiden aunt, and
has no memory of his early childhood. Even if he was the sort to seek
psychotherapy, it's unlikely that anything could be uncovered...

Like him? --S

You know, this reminds me -- as I was recently studying the craft of
scriptwriting (reading J. Michael Straczynski's book on the topic), it
occurred to me that it would be really cool to produce an OTE audiodrama.
Somehow this toaster scene of Yanni's struck me as something that would be
cool audio-only.

OTE has this way of making me excited about things that lack commercial
viability... :)

OTE has all the makings of a good radio series. It's got stuff best left to
the immagination, it's got conspiracies (which work really well on radio),
and it could throw in some cool parodies of 40s/50s radio drama.

But we all love you for it :-)

I think that's a great idea. Maybe I'll see if I can lean on my
ex-housemate Matt to check out Prod A at the student radio station he DJ's
for. Damn Telecomm degree ought to be good for something. :)

Who needs commercial viability? So long as the enjoyment you get out of
it matches or exceeds the sweat, swear words, and money that went into it,
you're coming out ahead.

Heh...

Well, for what it's worth, he apparently have more than one person on the
list that have (or have connections to someone with) broadcasting
experience and tendencies toward writing (I even learned some official
radio script style at school... I don't remember if JMS covered it or not,
as it's been a while since I read his book, but hey...).

So, if you ever want this to happen, you know of at least one or two
people to tap on the shoulder. :-) (Now if only I could get a suitable
recording suite together... anyone know where I can find a 4-track
recorder and a mixing board fairly cheap?)
